Frame & Forks

The Wayfarer frame is hand built in our Weymouth workshop, using Reynolds 853 tubing. The use of this top-of-the-range, air-hardened steel, with oversized tubes, gives the stiffness required for loaded use, while still remaining light and sporty for unladen use.

All of our frames and forks are individually built to order so you should expect to receive your Sven Cycle within four to six weeks of placing your order.

Brakes

We’ve selected, as standard, TRP Spyre mechanical disc brakes with dual actuation. These are the best mechanical discs out there at the moment and offer really reliable braking in any weather, even with a full load.

The Wheels & Tyres

Hand-built in our workshop, on Hope hubs and DT rims, these wheels are strong and light. Stainless steel, double-butted spokes, further enhance their strength.

We’ve fitted Schwalbe Marathon Racer 700x35 tyres. They are fast and strong, and have excellent puncture resistance. This is our recommended tyre for all uses.

The Wayfarer 8 Speed

From £2,000

Frame & Forks £1250

The Wayfarer is our version of the traditional British light touring bike but updated for today’s use. This sporty 8-speed is ideal as an entry point into the Wayfarer range.

We took the name, The Wayfarer, from the pen name of journalist Walter MacGregor Robinson, a pioneer of rough stuff cycle touring in the years following WW1 and it lives up to his indomitable spirit.

Built using ‘oversized’ Reynolds 853 tubing, this bike is sporty without being extreme; making it ideal for fast commuting and light touring.

As well as being a super luxury commuter for those daily rides to and from work, touring bikes are also great for longer distance rides, carrying bigger loads. So, if you’re racing in to work, planning a leisurely weekend at the Lakes or a longer ride on the cycle paths of France, a tourer is the bike for you.

The Wayfarer 8 is a classic light tourer, so it gives you all of the above and is a nice sporty ride into the bargain.

The Wayfarer has been designed using high-quality components as standard; a breakdown of each key element is listed on this page. Once you’ve had a read through, if you would like to customise your Wayfarer, please use the Customise Your Bike feature, below, to see what other options are available.
